Getting Rid of Dampness Will Help Eradicate Mold in the Home
Have you ever heard of companies that come into the home and do a mold remediation for homeowners? A homeowner can't live with mold because it's dangerous and creates havoc to those with allergies. These allergies can be a simple as a runny nose, to not being able to breathe due to an infection in the lungs caused by the mold. If you've ever walked into a home situated under trees where the sun never gets to shine on it, you have most lkely smelled the pungent smell of mold. Mold will come and set up residence anywhere there is dampness, whether on cardboard left lying around, old magazines, in dark damp corners, along the baseboards in basements, shower stalls and bathrooms.
Mold isn't pretty; it can be fuzzy, and can be any color from white, black or green. When a homeowner suspects they have a mold problem, the first thing they should do is schedule a mold inspection. You'll be surprised at all the places mold hides in the home. It's a natural part of life and usually it's growing somewhere, but the key is in not letting it get the upper hand. Once a homeowner realizes why mold grows, they'll see why drying out the home is crucial. Installing fans, exhaust fans in the shower room and bathroom, in the attic, basement, and the windows should be checked to see if there is condensation on them causing dampness in the home. They probably do not have enough insulation around them.
Once the home is checked out and mold testing has been performed, one of the companies dealing with mold will have to begin the process of mold removal. This is something you shouldn't do yourself because the technicians that remove the mold are trained experts. They'll be wearing masks on their faces and clothing that will protect their bodies from the mold spores. They will check out the air quality in your home. The technicians understand that the mold must be contained before fans are turned on all over the home since spores can be blown from one part of the house to another. Dehumidifiers are recommended to pull the moisture out of the air in the home.
Dampness causes mold, simply put. If your home is damp, you'll have mold growing. If the area is less than ten feet square, it's possible a homeowner can put a mask on black mold their face and use detergent to clean it up and thoroughly dry it on their own. If dampness is not dealt with, the mold will grow right back and the cleaning must take place again. Add the fans in the bathroom, and attic, a dehumidifier in the basement, fix any leaks in the house and cut a tree down if need be to allow sun to reach and warm up your home. Drying it out will contain the mold. Remember, every home has some mold in it and no company or homeowner ever gets rid of all of it.
